About TAMBDI MAHADEV TEMPLE

TAMBDI SURLA MAHADEV TEMPLE is the only structural Temple of the Kadamba period belonging to the 13th century which has survived.
The Temple was built of black basalt with slab roof design over the main hall and a typical Dravidian style Shikara and carved ceiling.
There is a linga (symbol of Lord Shiva) mounted on a pedestal inside the inner sanctum, and local legend has it that a huge king cobra is in permanent residence in the dimly lit interior. On route to Temple you can view waterfalls and a glimpse of wildlife sanctuary.
