The temple itself is at least 200 years old, as per the writing on a plaque near the temple dome.

The temple is believed to have been constructed during the Middle of the 16th century by ancestors of the Kshatriya Samaj. It was renovated in the year 1778. The temple is dedicated to Shri Mallikarjun who is yet another incarnation of Lord Shiva.

According to legend, the location of the temple is supposed to be the place where Lord Shiva met his consort Parvati after a long separation.

The temple was dedicated to the deity Ravalnath (a form of Lord Shiva). The remains of the ancient temple of Ravalnath are still visible today.

The church of St Alex was first a chapel church; in 1808 it was converted to a church.

The 400-year-old Shri Mangesh temple dedicated to Shiva stands out with its simple and yet exquisitely elegant structure.

A beautiful seven-storeyed deepstambh (lamp tower), stands at the gates in the temple complex. The temple also has a magnificent water tank, which is believe to be the oldest part of the temple.

They say since then, the cross hung over there has been growing in size slowly.
There is a golden screen just behind the main altar in the church that looks splendid. The Se Cathedral is a must visit while touring Goa.
