The temple is believed to have been constructed during the Middle of the 16th century by ancestors of the Kshatriya Samaj. It was renovated in the year 1778. The temple is dedicated to Shri Mallikarjun who is yet another incarnation of Lord Shiva.

According to legend, the location of the temple is supposed to be the place where Lord Shiva met his consort Parvati after a long separation.

The temple was dedicated to the deity Ravalnath (a form of Lord Shiva). The remains of the ancient temple of Ravalnath are still visible today.

The church of St Alex was first a chapel church; in 1808 it was converted to a church.

She is flanked by Vishnu and Shiva on both the sides. The temples of Shree Shantadurga and Shree Mangesh, two of the most revered patron deities of the Hindu Goud Saraswat Brahmin community are located in Queula and Mangeshi respectively in the Ponda district of South Goa.

This avatar of Shree Jagdamba Devi which had come to make peace [Shanti] between Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, came to be known as Shree Shantadurga Devi.

Built of laterite and plastered with lime mortar, it has a two-storeyed portico. The portico as well as the façade of the church has rounded towers on either side with the cross on top. The roof of the church is tiled, supported by wooden rafters.

According to the legends Lord Shiva had manifested into a tiger to scare Parvati. Parvati who was paranoid at the sight of the tiger went in search of Lord Shiva. Parvati was supposed to say “Trahimam Gireesh” but instead out of nervousness she said: “Trahimangeesh”.

The 400-year-old Shri Mangesh temple dedicated to Shiva stands out with its simple and yet exquisitely elegant structure.

A beautiful seven-storeyed deepstambh (lamp tower), stands at the gates in the temple complex. The temple also has a magnificent water tank, which is believe to be the oldest part of the temple.

It has a Surrounding of beautiful, golden rice fields, this is also one of the first few seminaries on Goa.

The Seminary also houses a church dedicated to St. Ignatius Loyola. The church houses a uniformed-statue of St Constantine and it is believed that shreds of his bones and a vial of his blood.

The temple is a perfect example of ancient and modern architecture.

The architectural style of the temple is very famous all over the world and never fails to amuse tourists who visit this place.

Inside the church, you will find three altars at the left that are dedicated to Holy family of Our Lady of Piety and St. Clare. On your right, you will find the altars of St. Cajetan, St. John and St. Agnes.

The image of Lord Brahma seen in this temple is known to have been brought here by a large section of devotees who escaped the religious intolerance.

The structure is built of laterite blocks and is lime-plastered. The church faces west and has a nave with three chapels on either side, a choir, two altars in the transept and a main altar. To the north of the main altar is a belfry and a sacristy.
The convent, which forms an annexure to the church, now houses the Archaeological Museum.

While leaving the temple of Rudreshwar, one can descend the staircase to look at a majestic waterfall shedding its exuberant silvery showers.

The temple has a beautiful image of Rudreshwar, which faces this roaring cascade.

The walls of the church are decorated with lovely paintings that are quite old. On the right side of the main altar, there is a chapel of Cross of Miracles. It is said that here a vision of Jesus Christ had appeared in the year 1919.

They say since then, the cross hung over there has been growing in size slowly.
There is a golden screen just behind the main altar in the church that looks splendid. The Se Cathedral is a must visit while touring Goa.

The city of Panaji is blessed by three historic ecclesiastical monuments – the Jama Masjid, the Church of Immaculate Conception and the Shri Mahalaxmi Temple – surprisingly standing on the same road pose a perfect symmetry of communal harmony and camaraderie.

The interior of the church is relatively simple by the standards of the time although the backdrop to the main altar, dedicated to Mary Immaculate, is impressive enough.

However, it is the two flanking altars that catch the eye, that on the left dedicated to Jesus Crucified and that on the right to Our Lady of the Rosary.

There are two life size images of elephants in standing position, made of black stone on either side at the entrance to welcome the visitors. The Goddess Bhagwati Ashtabhuja is in a standing position on a high pedestal which is very imposing.

The shrine of the miraculous statue of Mae de Deus (Mother of God) was brought from the ruins of the convent of Mae de Deus at Old Goa. This beautiful church is the finest piece of Gothic style. The Church is well illuminated at night.

St. Francis Xavier was a member of the Society of Jesus who preached the enlightening teachings of Christianity when he came to India along with the Portuguese.

The Temple was built of black basalt with slab roof design over the main hall and a typical Dravidian style Shikara and carved ceiling.

There is a linga (symbol of Lord Shiva) mounted on a pedestal inside the inner sanctum, and local legend has it that a huge king cobra is in permanent residence in the dimly lit interior.

On route to Temple you can view waterfalls and a glimpse of wildlife sanctuary.

The temple is dedicated to goddess Nav Durga, the temple is believed to be more than 500 years old and was renovated in the year 1603.

The presiding deity worshipped at the temple is Mahishasuramardini who is the ferocious form of goddess Durga and this beautiful idol of the deity is carved out of a stone which is about 4 ft in height.
